The Bissinger tradition of hand-crafted French confections dates back to the 1600s, when the Bissinger family operated a renowned candy shop in Paris. The secrets of those famous confections were passed down from generation to generation, finally arriving in the United States with the family of Karl Bissinger in 1863. Karl moved to St. Louis in 1927 and opened a small candy shop, which soon became a St. Louis favorite. That original store is still open for business today.

In the 1970s, Bissinger French Confections expanded from that original stand-alone store to three mall locations in St. Louis. In addition, a mail order catalogue was introduced, which now has thousands of active customers nationwide. Under new ownership in the 1990s, the company has continued to expand.

Today the company is poised for additional growth, with a formula for success that includes top-quality products, a proven store concept, a seasoned management team and a national catalogue customer base.

The stores feature exclusively Merrell footwear, apparel and accessories.
